Michele Macdonald’s artist statement:
After graduating from a vocational High School Arts program, I found my curiosity for materials, colour, form and function. From there, I went on to the Ontario College of Art and Design. There I progressively expanded my creative expression though exploring many different materials and techniques. This wide exposure lead to my professional career of 22 years in woodworking and prop building, with many, many detours to other creative jobs. I taught myself ceramics in 2010 and have not stopped.
My practice includes both ceramic sculptures and functional ceramics. My ‘Seed’ sculptural series is an expression of the stored life potential that comes with a combination of attention and intention with imagery from the natural world. The 'Woodland' series is an explorational of glaze and shape to express natures' complexity.
